Kayla is a multidisciplinary artist based in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned her BA in Studio Arts and Social Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. Her work blends surreal and abstract visual languages with grounded, realistic elements, often expressed through digital collage, mixed media, and painting.
Art, for Kayla, is a space of freedom — an instinctual and deeply personal practice where ideas emerge and evolve intuitively. Rather than following predefined compositions, she allows each piece to unfold organically, responding in the moment to color, form, and feeling— as well as to her inner dialogue and the ever-changing world around her. Her process is guided by trust: in the materials, in her eye, and in the belief that the final work will become what it was meant to be.
While once focused on mental health and political themes, Kayla’s current work is eclectic and concept-driven, shifting mediums to suit each idea. Shaped by curiosity and the interplay between material and meaning, her practice continues to explore the emotional, the layered, and the in-between — inviting viewers into spaces that feel both constructed and dreamlike.
